A Treatment for Cellulitis
Cellulitis is an infection of the deeper skin tissue, which is most often caused by the bacteria Streptococcus or Staphylococcus. These bacteria are able to invade the skin through small cracks (fissures) in the skin, causing the sudden appearance of skin redness, swelling, and the sensation of heat. Cellulitis is often accompanied by fever and chills.
If you think you have cellulitis, contact your doctor immediately.
You will likely be given a course of antibiotics or be given antibiotics intravenously.

Suggested Manuka Honey treatments for cellulitis
Topical: Clean the affected area with saline solution. Apply a MANUKAhd dressing. This can be left on the affected area for up to 7 days. Continue this treatment through the debridement stage (if this treatment is necessary) until new tissue and skin has formed. If you can catch the cellulitis at an early stage then you could choose to apply MANUKAtex dressings daily to the affected area. If you do not have access to these dressings then you can use MANUKApli applied directly to the area or spread onto a sterile dressing.
Internal: 16+ certified MGS rating can be beneficial for building up the immune system – thus enabling your body to fight the infection from within.* Boost your immune system with 3 to 5 tsps daily – can be taken straight off the spoon, or add 1tsp to a hot drink – preferably fresh lemon. Lemon will help to keep your body more alkaline (drugs acidify your body)**.
* Preferably use this higher certified rating
** Foods etc should be in the ratio of 60% - 80% alkaline forming, and only 20% - 40% acid forming to maintain good health.
